Introduction
A new year offers a new opportunity. Opportunity to set and achieve new goals. Opportunity for a fresh start to accomplish things we have always wanted to do. But we all know that to achieve any new goal, we need a plan. Desire alone will not accomplish our goal. We need a strategy. Strategies give us a chance to turn aspiration into accomplishment. So, as we begin in 2021, we want to offer a strategy to help you grow spiritually. Spiritual growth is something that many of us crave, but it often eludes us due to the busyness of life or our lack of focus upon God. Thankfully, a new year is here, and we have a new opportunity to grow spiritually. This is a simple and brief 10-day prayer guide to help you begin the year focused on God's Word, accompanied by a timely application and targeted prayer.
This prayer guide is organized according to our Valleydale Values and Measures. Our values explain the "why" behind our actions. If you ever wondered why we have sermons and Life Group lessons directly from God's Word, well, it is because we value truth with transformation. If you ever wondered why we talk about international, national, and local missions so much, it is because we value evangelism with urgency. Each Valleydale Value contains a "with" phrase to add specificity and focus. But values alone do not change a church culture. So, we have a list of Valleydale Measures that propose penetrating questions that force us to take serious inventory of our spiritual walk. Measures are an indicator of growth or lack of development. Our leadership believes that if you can honestly answer "yes" to these questions, there is a good chance you are on the right path to spiritual growth.
You can do anything for 10 days. Go ahead and decide now that you will take time each day to complete this prayer guide for the next 10 days. We hope you will develop a daily habit of reading God's Word, applying it to your life, and then praying according to that passage that will continue beyond the scope of this prayer guide.
