Peru Summer Missionary Update
Hey folks,
I had the opportunity to talk with Bradley for about an hour on Monday night. I wanted to pass along the praise and prayer requests from that conversation.
1. Praise God for the house situation. The new house has been a blessing, and is far less expensive than the hotel. He explained the location of the house to me, and it's in a great area of town. The owner of the house (who also lives next door) is the director of the medical clinic, and is a great partner with us. He will take good care of our team, and will be there for anything they may need.
2. Pray for their health, rest, and strength. I think all of the SM's have been sick at one point. Hopefully the kitchen and microwave in the house will allow them to prepare their own foods and have more control over what they eat. Each day is long and tiring, and they need to eat healthy and get lots of rest, so please pray for that to happen.
3. The team had a great conversation with the pastor of the local Assembly of God church. They had an opportunity to hear more about his beliefs, and what he teaches in the church. This helps to clarify our position with the church as friends and supporters, but not in an official partnership. This clarification is very important to our work, and the SM's have done a great job learning more about this situation.
4. Bradley and Derek are apparently handling much of their communication on their own without translators. Bradley said their Spanish is coming along well, and they are finding it possible to communicate themselves, which truly helps them to connect with the people much more closely. This is a big praise! Derek will be leading a Bible storying session on Friday night in Spanish!
5. Our friends in Arequipa (Krinwer and Katherine) are doing well. Krinwer has a great job and is more settled now than before. Krinwer shared lots of good information about Caraveli, and some of the friends we have made there. I think Krinwer was a great resource to Bradley and provided wisdom regarding people in Caraveli.
6. Pray for Hugo, our friend in Caraveli who made a decision for Christ back in December. He has fallen back into some old habits, and truly needs the day-to-day support of our SM's, and our prayers.
7. Flavio, the translator, has been a huge help to the team. He has done a great job uncovering information and meeting new people in town. Bradley said he's a great partner to our SM's.
8. Pray individually for the SM's......Bradley, Derek, Patric, Jessica, and Liz. They are on mission together, but are also dealing with real challenges of life, and living in fairly tight living quarters. They have and will go through emotional highs and lows, as well as health and rest issues. Again, lift them up by name and ask for His grace and peace to cover them.
