Serve The World

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to relase the oppressed, to procliam the year of the Lord's favor.  Luke 4:18-19

Here are opportunities for students to get involved in serving the Birmingham area with our high school ministry:

JIMMIE HALE MISSION | First Thursday of each month | 4:15 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Since 1944, The Jimmie Hale Mission has been a shelter for the homeless, a rest stop for the weary, a feeding station for the hungry, and a sanctuary for the hurting.

On the first Saturday of each month, we will be taking part in an outreach called Adopt-A-Block in the Woodlawn community.  By joining forces with and the Birmingham Dream Center, we will be the hands and feet of Jesus in the community bringing hope and love by meeting practical and spiritual needs of the residents in the surrounding neighborhoods. 

Jessie's Place, affecionately named after mission co-founder Jessie Hale Downs, was established as a haven for homeless and hurting women and children seeking shelter while preparing to reach self-sufficiency. Our group will be able to not only serve these women a meal, but will also be able to play with the children at the mission and give mom's the opportunity to enjoy a Bible study.
